As a garden designer with over a decade of experience collaborating with leading British landscape designers and architects, I’ve seen how thoughtful outdoor spaces can transform not only homes but the lives within them. Today, with the world more connected than ever, garden design no longer needs to be bound by geography.
Remote design has become a powerful, flexible, and efficient way to create stunning gardens for clients around the world, and for many, it’s the ideal solution.
With a background that spans English gardens, landscapes and contemporary outdoor spaces from around the world, I now offer a remote design service for clients across countries. My approach blends design expertise, clear communication, and a deep understanding of place; especially for those dreaming of a garden in the hills of Tuscany or a courtyard retreat abroad.
This blog post will talk about:
What Is Remote Garden Design?

Remote garden design is a collaborative process where we plan and create your garden from a distance, using digital tools and communication. It’s just as thorough and creative as an in-person service, but often more convenient.
Here’s how it typically works:
INTRODUCTORY CONSULTATION
We start with a detailed video call to understand your goals, lifestyle, design tastes, and the specific challenges or potential of your site.
SITE ANALYSIS
You provide photos, videos, and measurements of your garden. If needed, I guide you on how to do this or recommend local professionals to survey the site in detail.
CONCEPT & DESIGN
Based on your brief, I develop mood boards, design layout plans, sketches, planting palettes, and 3D visuals to bring your space to life.
COLLABORATION
Through regular video calls, email updates, and shared visuals, we refine the design together.
IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT
I provide detailed plans and planting schemes ready for your landscaper, and I can liaise with them directly to support a smooth build.

Why Choose Remote Design?
Work With the Right Designer, Not Just the Nearest One
You might be in Tuscany, France, Spain or the UK, but the perfect designer for your vision may not be local. Remote design allows you to choose someone who understands your taste, lifestyle, values, and your native language.
Cost-Effective & Efficient
With no travel costs or scheduling delays, remote design offers excellent value and often a quicker turnaround without sacrificing quality.
Ideal for Second Homes & International Clients
Whether you're developing a holiday home in Italy or Spain or managing a project from abroad, remote design lets the process continue even when you’re not on site.
High-Quality, Personalized Design
With a background rooted in bespoke British garden design, I bring a tailored, detailed approach to every project; whether it’s a beautiful Tuscan terrace, a low-maintenance Mediterranean garden, or a contemporary naturalistic planting bed.

Experience That Crosses Borders

Over the last ten years, I’ve worked on a wide range of landscapes and gardens, from compact city spaces across the UK and Australia to country homes in Surrey and Hungary.
My experience includes:
Collaborating with top British designers on planting design, spatial planning and architecture;
Specializing in Mediterranean and drought-tolerant planting, ideal for climates like Tuscany’s;
Navigating international projects with multilingual clients, builders, and suppliers;
Designing for functionality, beauty, and long-term sustainability.
I speak fluent English and bring a clear, practical communication style to every stage of a project, which is especially important when working across time zones or languages.
Now, I’m channeling this experience into my own practice, with a special focus on gardens in Italy, particularly in Tuscany, where my love for the landscape, light, and lifestyle aligns perfectly with my planting style and design sensibility.

A Few Considerations (and How We Address Them)
Local Knowledge & Climate
Every location is unique. I research local microclimates, native species, and architectural styles, and I collaborate with local trades or horticulturists when needed.
Site Information Accuracy
Good design depends on accurate measurements. I provide simple guides or templates to help clients capture what I need, or I can coordinate with a local surveyor.
Building the Design
Once the design is complete, I remain available to support your landscaper with any questions. Clear plans, schedules, and visuals make sure the project stays on track.
