Woodland Garden

Woodland-Inspired Front Garden Planting in Bristol
In 2022, I was commissioned to design new planting beds for the front garden of a private client in Bristol. Their vision was to evoke the feel of Mediterranean landscapes, drawing on memories of their travels. Although the two beds were visually separated by a fence and faced very different growing conditions, I created a cohesive scheme by selecting plants with similar tones, forms, habits, and even sound, focusing on those with shared botanical families or visual qualities.
The bed pictured here sits beneath a mature oak tree and is also shaded by a neighboring building. To complement this setting, I proposed a woodland-edge style planting, designed to work in low light and thrive beneath the canopy. The result is a layered, low-maintenance mix of shade-tolerant grasses and perennials that gently sway in the breeze, blending seamlessly into the surrounding greenery and offering year-round interest with a subtle, naturalistic feel.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL:
Orsi was absolutely amazing. She worked so hard on the design of our garden and provided such care and attention and in doing so provided amazing value for money. Orsi interpreted our ideas perfectly, we are so delighted with the scheme she designed, that we have now asked for her to design the next stage of our garden.
